Танцы Минус started in 1995 by Slava Petkun and were first noticed on the musical festival "Поколение 96" (Generation 96). Shortly after, the band moved to Moscow and performed in Moscow's bars and clubs, sometimes playing up to three sets a day. By the end of the 90s, the band gained some popularity and their single "Город" reached third place on the 1999 compilation "Хит-парада слушателей У1" (U1 Auditory's Hit Parade).
