Bravo are part of the Stilyagi revival of the late 80s. Formed in 1983 they had a their major sucess with singer Zheane Aguzavora before she left. They had continueing sucess afterwards with different singers. Concentrating on a 1950s beat sound with modern touches thrown in.
"Aguzarovoy" period
The group was founded in 1983 by guitarist Eugene Havtanom and drummer Paul Kuzinab who left Garik Sukachev's group "Postscript" because of stylistic differences. Jeanne Aguzarova joined as the new vocalist, under her pseudonym Ivanna Anders. The group was joined by saxophonist Alexander Stepanenko, and bassist Andrew cones. This composition was recorded first album, witch was distrobuted through friends, in the typical soviet underground style.
The debut concert of "Bravo" on 18 March 1984 at DK Mosenergotehprom ended in a scandal. Organizers and participants of the concert was detained illegally by police and forced to write confessions, since underground gigs for money was seen as an illegal enterprise. Jeanne Aguzarova was for a few months, held under investigation for falsification of documents (her passport was issued under the name «Ivanna Anders», under which it is) and was forced to leave Moscow because of the lack of registration. In her absence, the group has changed the composition and vocals were performed by Sergey Ryzhenko.
In 1985, with the return of Jeanne, the group has achieved legal status and join the Moscow Rock Laboratory. Through Alla Pugacheva, "Bravo" was invited to broadcast on «Music Ring». The following year the group took part in the festival «Rock Panorama 86» (in which they won the Audience Award) and in «Lituanika-86». The group started to gain popularity and professionalism. 1987 saw the first official release of Bravo under Melodia (the soviet music label) it circulation nearly 5 million copies.
"Syutkin" period
By this time the musicians have deteriorated relations with Aguzarovoy, because they prefered to remain underground. Scandals were caused after Aguzarovoy cased a new vocalis Yevgenia Aspen, who had worked in the group all year.
In 1990, Bravo finally found a permanent vocalist - Valery Syutkin. At the same time, they recorded a new hit: song «John». August 25, 1990 debuted the new team: E. Havtan - guitar, V. Syutkin - vocals, IM Danilkin - drums, Sergei Lapin - bass, Ivanov - saxophone, S. Bushkevich - trumpet. In this composition the band recorded its best-known albums: «mod from Moscow», «Moscow-bit» and «Road to the Clouds». Bravo had toured most of the CIS and appeared on television
In 1994, Syutkin leaves, and begins a successful solo career with the group «Syutkin Ko». At the same time the group returned to its founder Pavel Kuzin. They kept the name of their new vocalist concealed until the end of the recording of the album «At the Crossroads of spring», he was introdduced in 1996. He had already participated in the casting in 1989, Robert Lenz, remaining at the site until now. In recent years, is Eugene Havtan also began to perform songs as a vocalist.
In 1998 group they celebrated their 15 years anniversary with a concert tour - «Bravomaniya», which was attended by Syutkin and Aguzarova. The tour was a great success, but the final concerts were canceled because of Jeane didn't participate. In 2004 group celebrated its 20 anniversary, again inviting their former vocalists, as well as friends: Garik Sukachev, Maxim Leonidova, Zemfira, Svetlana Surganov.
In 2008 the celebration of their 25th anniversary team gave a series of gigs: October 31 in St. Petersburg was a special guest Joan Aguzarova and 12 November in Moscow, but Jeanne invited Aguzarovoy Yuri Bashmet with chamber ensemble «Moscow Soloists», which «Bravo »prepared a special program.
